Photographer Emulation

Objects
Holly Andres

Holly Andres was born 1977 in Montana. She is still alive and still photographing. After graduate school Holly started studying cinema. During her studies she became interested in freezing a narrative in a single frame. This led holly to fall in love with photography.

I chose this photographer because her work was very interesting to me. I loved how she used everyday objects and created something so complex and beautiful with it. With something that just would be a mess disgusting and transforms it into art. Also, I love how simple her photos really are. In some of her photographs it looks chaotic, but they still all have a very simplified aspect to them. In my photographs I will try to keep my photos very simple using everyday “objects” to make a complex and original still life.

Depth of Field and Motion

This photo is an example of shallow depth of field.  This shows shallow depth of field because of the background being blurred. I also got really close to my subject.

This photo is an example of blurred motion. As she jumps she along with the background is blurred. I used sports mode to capture this photo.

Elements and Strategies for Successful Photographs

Zsolt Hlinka
This photo is shallow depth of field photograph. This photographer got really close to the top of the buildings, he probably used his zoom in this photo instead of getting close with his feet. This photo is also very symmetrical. What really caught my eye about this  photo was the perspective. The unordinary perspective is really intensified in the photograph.

This photograph shows leading lines. This makes me wonder whats at the end of the pathway. This photograph emphasises deep depth of field. This photograph is also very symmetrical, a major reason why this photo caught my eye.

Goals for the Semester

I am taking this course to further develop my photography skills. After taking Photo 1 I noticed I really enjoyed taking photos and I want to look deeper into my capabilities. During this semester I hope to gain skills on learning how to use a film camera and how to print negatives in the dark room. I would also hope to strengthen my photoshop skills. In Photo 1 we started to explore with photoshop and during this semester I hope to learn more about it. Another skill I'd really enjoy learning more about is how to take the film out of the film camera and how to put it in. I have recently used a film camera for the first time and really enjoyed it. I'm really excited for this semester in Photo 2.
